Our Kindergarden Book Buddies

Our class has buddied up with Mrs. Shaw's kindergarden class.  Every two weeks, we will meet to read books and do other activities.  The 5th graders have exhibited great patience and skill as they lead our newest students into a love of reading.  It will be wonderful for our class to watch the kindergardeners grow as readers this year - and know that they helped!

Halloween Photos and Conferences

November 10, 2016

What a week it's been!  I have really enjoyed talking with parents over the past two weeks about their children.  It is always so helpful to me to learn more about them from you.  Thank you all for taking the time to meet with me!  If you ever have any questions about your child, please don't hesitate to email or call me.

Below are some photos from our Halloween Party.  (I apologize for not getting one of all of them individually, but we do have everyone in the group photo!)

We had a lot of fun in spite of the rain.  The decorations created a spooky ambience and the food was delicious!  All of your contributions were very much appreciated.  Thank you so much to all!

Welcome to 5J's Blog!

On this page, we will share information, photos, and more about our school year.   Please check back often to see what is happening in our classroom!

Our goal throughout this year is to foster the development of curiosity and respect.  We will ask questions about the books we read, the math we explore, the science that we investigate and the history that we study.  Respect will lay the foundation for a classroom climate that makes all of us feel secure in asking questions and in feeling supported in our studies.

Oh - and we will make LOTS of mistakes together, but that's GOOD, 'cause that's how our brains grow!  (You will learn more about that this year.)
